People

People are more interesting than trees.  I would rather paint a couple walking in the woods than a landscape of a path through the woods—even though I don’t do that enough. Many of my commissions are paintings of people doing something meaningful to them.

Ninety-five per cent of my landscapes are based on my own photographs, from west coast, rockies, midwest, to east; and especially North Carolina. I use  different mediums, which help each work to manifest in its own individual style. 

More than other subjects, a still life incorporates principles of abstract art; fun to do, and always an important learning experience for me.
